Karin Man-Ray

Wireman was orginally created as an ilustration and possible stop animation character in 1999. I have always found Mr Wireman an endearing character and produced a number of drawings and sketches based on him. Simply made from coated garden wire and lightbulbs, his flexibility gives him movement to pose and develop a personality of his own. 

The first sketches were almost a mutated scratchy form showing a progression of movement. Inspired by the derelict metal yards, abandoned buildings and carparks where I used to live. Wireman was contructed and born, created from a decrepid crumbled city. As I once wrote, somewhere between a hell and hole was a large part of where I lived growing up.

 I hope with Wireman to create more bespoke figures for sale online and for future exhibitions plus expand his branding, creating a box for him. Commisions I have undertaken of Wireman and do offer, though with any special projects I can not give a strict timescale. I hope to offer randomly the odd Wireman Cousin of Mr Wireman in my store.
